Why editing.church exists
Editing.church exists because churches are being asked to communicate at a professional level—often with volunteer-level support.
Over time, that tension takes a toll. Pastors carry more than they should. Volunteers feel stretched thin. And meaningful messages don’t always reach people as clearly as they could.
This work exists to relieve that pressure.
“Let all things be done decently and in order.”
— 1 Corinthians 14:40
That verse has quietly shaped how I approach this work more than any trend or technology ever could.
This story started long before editing.church
I started working in video production in seventh grade, volunteering at my local cable access station.
Around the same time, I came to know Jesus as my Savior at Canby Assembly of God in Canby, Oregon.
From the beginning, faith and storytelling grew together in my life. They weren’t separate paths—I just didn’t yet understand how they would eventually come together in service to the Church.
In high school at Canby High School, I took video production courses all four years. Even then, I knew this work mattered. I didn’t have language for it yet, but I knew it wasn’t just a hobby.
After graduation, I attended Eugene Bible College in Eugene, Oregon. Ministry mattered deeply to me, even though I still didn’t fully understand how my professional life would ultimately serve it.
Formation through responsibility and discipline
Later, I joined the United States Army and deployed to Afghanistan as a Military Police officer.
At the time, I didn’t realize the Army had video roles—otherwise I would have pursued them. But the experience shaped me in ways that continue to guide how I work today: discipline, accountability, clarity under pressure, and respect for mission.
“Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found faithful.”
— 1 Corinthians 4:2
After returning home, I met my wife, and later we welcomed our daughter.
A career in professional storytelling
I went on to attend film school at Collins College in Tempe, Arizona, followed by editing school at Video Symphony in Burbank, California.
While still in school, I began working professionally.
That work turned into a career spanning over 25 years and more than 125 television shows and films, living and working in Los Angeles under real production deadlines, real expectations, and real accountability.
This wasn’t theory. This was professional storytelling at scale.
The Church was never separate from the work
While living in Los Angeles, my family and I attended Beth Ariel Messianic Congregation.
I didn’t just attend—I served.
I helped build their video ministry from the ground up:
• Growing their YouTube channel from under 25 subscribers to nearly 3,000
• Filming testimonies, welcome videos, and story-driven content
• Building their livestream infrastructure from scratch
• Helping translate the heart of the congregation into video people could actually connect with online
That season clarified something for me.
Churches are not lacking vision.
They’re lacking capacity.
I kept seeing volunteers carrying professional-level expectations without professional-level support. Pastors managing technical burdens they were never meant to carry. And meaningful messages struggling to reach people clearly.
“We cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.”
— Acts 4:20
The problem was never the message.
It was the support system around it.
Why editing.church was built
In 2021, my family and I moved to Las Vegas.
In 2024, I founded editing.church with a simple conviction:
Churches deserve professional media support that honors their mission, respects their people, and stewards resources wisely.
Editing.church exists to provide steady, professional storytelling—without adding strain to pastors or volunteers. Not trends. Not hype. Just faithful, well-crafted media that quietly supports the mission of the Church week after week.
